Elon’s New Party: Shaking Up the Uniparty or Splitting the Vote?
Musk’s Feud with Trump Over a $3.4 Trillion Bill Sparks a Risky Revolution.
“The America Party is formed to give you back your freedom”
Elon Musk has announced the formation of a new political party in America called “The American Party” to represent “80% in the middle”—the millions fed up with Washington’s endless bickering. On July 5, 2025, the world’s richest man, with $350 billion and 220 million X followers, declared war on the “uniparty,” his term for Democrats and Republicans who, he claims, collude to pass bloated laws like the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Signed by President Donald Trump on July 4, this $3.4 trillion tax-cut and spending spree—once backed by Musk’s $250 million in campaign cash—sparked a bitter feud when it slashed Tesla’s electric vehicle subsidies and piled more debt onto America’s $33 trillion tab. The America Party promises a revolution for the forgotten middle, but can Musk outsmart a system rigged against outsiders, or is this just a billionaire’s tantrum? But how did we end up here?
The One Big Beautiful Bill
“massive, outrageous, pork‑filled Congressional spending bill… a disgusting abomination”
What does the bill says?
The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” signed by President Donald Trump on July 4, 2025, is a huge law that does two main things: it cuts taxes for some people and businesses, it spends TONS of money on various government programs. Think of it like a shopping spree, where the government hands out discounts (tax cuts) and buys a lot of stuff (spending), but it’s using a credit card it can’t fully pay off.
Tax cuts sounds great at first as it lowers the taxes for certain groups like businesses or high earners, but government will get less money to pay for things like roads, schools, or the military.
The bill is not just about tax cuts, but it’ll also pump billions into projects, like infrastructure or defense, to boost economy and create jobs—this means government will spend more than it has.
Experts say the bill will add $3.3 to $3.4 trillion to the U.S. national debt over 10 years, on top of $33 trillion it already owes. Imagine your family owing $33,000 on a credit card and then adding $3,300 more without a plan to pay it back.
This bills also cancel green-energy subsidies, which are basically discounts the government gives to people buying EVs, like Tesla cars, to make them cheaper and encourage clean energy.
Why Does Elon Oppose the Bill?
Elon is mad about this bill for two key reasons:
It Hurt’s Tesla’s Business:
As we know the bill cancels EV tax credits, which works like the discounts on EVs to promote clean energy and encourage people to buy more Tesla cars. For example a $7,500 credit can make Tesla model 3 cheaper, so more people buy it. Without these credits, Tesla might sell fewer cars and its stock already dropped nearly 7% on July 7, 2025, because investors are worried.
It’s Bad for the Budget:
Musk thinks the bill spends way too much and adds to much debt. He’s been pushing for less government spending through his role in Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he tried to cut wasteful programs and saved $160–$175 billion (currently only $61.5 billion is verified).
We all know that Elon played a big role leading to Trump’s victory in 2024 by donating more than $250 million—and now he feels backstabbed—like he Trump win only to see him support a bill that hurts Musk’s business.
The Feud Over the Bill
Just when the bill moved through Congress in early June, Musk called it a “disgusting abomination” on X, urging lawmakers to “kill the bill”. Trump fired back with his usual excuses that Musk was just “upset” about losing EV subsidies and he knew about the bill very long ago, but Elon said the bill was passed “in the dead of night” and he never knew about it.
The two billionaires got into a feud firing at each other on their social media platforms. Musk threatened to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft (critical for NASA) but backtracked—Trump threatened to cut Tesla and SpaceX contracts—Elon dropped a big bomb on X saying Trump’s name is in the Epstein list that’s why he’s not releasing it—Then Trump hinted deporting Elon back to South Africa and we witnessed this back and forth for quite a while.
The America Party
On July 5, 2025, Elon Musk took to X, declaring, “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.” A July 4 poll showed 65.4% of 1.2 million X users backed a new party to smash the “uniparty”—Musk’s term for a Republican-Democratic system that passes bloated laws like the $3.4 trillion Big Beautiful Bill. Signed by Trump on July 4, the bill gutted Tesla’s EV tax credits, sparking Musk’s fury. Aiming for the “80% in the middle,” he’s betting his $350 billion to win key 2026 seats. But can he outsmart a rigged system?
Maybe yes—see—to start a political party, you need at least $10-20 million and that’s too trivial for a guy like Elon. In addition, with a following of 220 million people gives Musk a direct line of voters.
This is a bold move by Elon and he’s looking serious about it. Musk named Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja as treasurer, but no FEC registration exists as of today. Indeed there are hundreds of thousands of people supporting Elon for making a new political party—but it’s also getting criticism as it could split conservative votes and help democrats in 2026.
The party is supposed to represent “80% in the middle”—voters sick of both parties ’ dysfunction, per Musk’s X posts. Other goals and values are not much different from republicans except maintaining the green-energy subsidies, fiscal conservatism (cutting debt), tech-forward policies (pro-Bitcoin, pro-innovation), free speech, and pro-Second Amendment stance. The party was supposed to represent and save American voters but what I can see are Elon’s own selfish motives.
Elon is the man who got all the money in the world so financial power to launch and manage the party is not big of a problem—until Trump administration plays a dirty trick with his active businesses. 40% of voters and 65% of Americans are open to alternatives, giving party a potential base. Figures like Mark Cuban and Anthony Scaramucci, plus GOP holdouts like Rep. Thomas Massie, are supporting the plan which boosts credibility.
You know what? I want this Party to come into existence. I really do. From decades, the two party system is dominating America and ruining and defaming American soils day-by-day. Just tell me who likes America today compared to 1990s? No matter how crazy Elon is, no matter how selfish his party’s goals are—I just know the guy is hardworking, a promoter of freedom of speech, and he do have the power to save America—though I won’t make a statement that he really will. The guy will get bored in some months, shut the party, patch up with Trump, and we will witness tales of their bromance for a whole another year.

All of this sounds like a mess. If one of them is trying to take a different lead, that will only lead to division.

He got $5 billion for free from the American Government over the years but despises spending when it's not in his interest. The issue with the US is also not wasteful spending; it's that the country has been captured by the .1% and the military-industrial complex, to the detriment of almost everyone and the country as a whole.
Completely agree with your conclusions, Rohaan. Is there a need for a third way? 1 million %. Is Musk the one to lead it? No, 1 million %. He's highly volatile, highly self-interested, a poor public speaker and pretty dislikeable. He's also not particularly shrewd as a thinker when it comes to politics.
American politics is the tale of two cancers - the dominant Establishment strain of megaloliberals - and the Trumpian mutant strain. The latter's less likely to cause WW3, which makes it better, but they're both fucking awful.
I think it will be a grassroots leader who eventually comes when people can stand it no more. It won't be one of these billionaires. The socioeconomic domestic issues and the global policeman + indispensable nation idea are still the main issues. Money has just got better at hiding. The biggest difference between Trump and Musk, and the Dems, is who they blame for the ills of society. They are the ill when it comes down to it.
Will go and subscribe now and restack.
